Position Summary
The Simulator Instructor provides flight, ground instruction, and evaluations to initial, upgrading, transitioning and recurrent JetBlue Pilots and Gateway Select trainees.
Essential Responsibilities
Provide flight instruction and evaluations in a full motion flight simulator and flight training devices
Provide ground school instruction in aircraft specific and general Pilot operational subjects
Assist with courseware development and other collateral duties associated with Pilot flight training
Identify and recall JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS), Safety Policy and behavioral standards
Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) and Safety Action Report(SAR)
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Unrestricted Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with airplane category and multiengine class ratings
1500 hours total flight time in aircraft (including turbine helicopter, but excluding simulator and Flight Engineer)
500 hours in fixed wing airplanes
One (1) year as an instructor or check airman in a certificate holder’s approved program OR One (1) year as Pilot in Command or Second in Command in a turbojet aircraft
Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and the ability to use bowsers effectively including iOS
Excellent communication skills
Ability to think creatively
Excellent interpersonal skills
Problem solving skills
Knowledge of basic computer and electronic tablet devices
Able to read and comprehend guidance as found in required manuals
Strong presentation skills
Able to work varying schedules including reserve duty, weekends, evenings, holidays, and last minute drafting
Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with Airbus A320 or Embraer E190 aircraft type rating
Check Airman or Simulator Instructor experience in turbojet aircraft
Crewmember Expectations:
Regular attendance and punctuality
Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

Full Flight Motion Simulator
Irregular shift work, training center is operated twenty four (24) hours per day and seven (7 ) days per week
Occasional temporary work assignments in New York or sub bases
Occasional on call/reserve duty
Full-Time instructors are scheduled for 12 days off per month.
Physical Effort:
Generally not required, or up to 10 pounds occasionally, 0 pounds frequently. (Sedentary)
